unit 1-Day 1:

day 1: basic definitions

Area of squares-The number of square units it takes to completely fill a square. Formula: Width × Height.

rectangles-A 4-sided polygon where all interior angels are 90°.

triangles-A closed figure consisting of three line segments linked end-to-end. A 3-sided polygon.

trapezoids-A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides.

parallelograms-A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel.

circles- A line forming a closed loop, every point on which is a fixed distance from a center point.

polygons-A number of coplanar line segments, each connected end to end to form a closed shape.
define point-an exact location,it has not size only position.

line-A long, narrow mark or band.

plane-A flat surface on which a straight line joining any two points on it would wholly lie.

line segment-a part of a line that is bounded by two distinct end points, and contains every point on the line between its end points.

ray-Each of the lines in which light (and heat) may seem to stream from the sun or any luminous body, or pass through a small opening.

angle-The space (usually measured in degrees) between two intersecting lines or surfaces at or close to the point where they meet.

median-denoting or relating to a value or quantity lying at the midpoint of a frequency distribution of observed values or quantities.

altitude-The height of an object or point in relation to sea level or ground level.

perpendicular-At an angle of 90° to a given line, plane, or surface.

quiz:
1)what is the diference between a trapezoid and a parallelogram?
2)what is the diference between a line and a line segment?
3)what is the difference between a ray and an angle?
